What we collect and why

When you use our forms

The Contact, Sample Request, and Market Brief forms collect what you enter: name, business email, company, country, phone (optional), product interest, order details, and your message. We use this only to respond to your inquiry, prepare a quote or sample, or (Market Brief only, and only if you've checked the consent box) send the quarterly market report. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell it.

When you interact with the site generally

If you accept Analytics in the cookie banner, we use Umami (a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool) to understand overall traffic — pages viewed, referring site, browser/device type, and country. Umami does not use tracking cookies and does not build a cross-site profile of you. If you don't accept, none of this loads at all — not even in a reduced form.

Your consent choice itself

When you make a cookie-consent choice, we log that event — timestamp, which categories you chose, which policy version applied, and how you made the choice (banner button or the preferences panel) — together with a one-way hashed device identifier (not your raw IP, and never reused as an analytics ID) so we can demonstrate what was agreed to if ever asked. This log entry itself is necessary to run the site responsibly and isn't a category you can opt out of.

Legal basis

Which legal basis applies to each type of processing above (contractual necessity, consent, legitimate interest, or something else under Egyptian law) is a question for counsel that has not yet been answered. We do not assert a specific legal basis on this page until that review is complete.

Third parties / sub-processors

Netlify (hosting and serverless functions), Neon (database), and our self-hosted Umami instance (analytics, only if you consent). We do not share your information with any other third party except where needed to fulfill your specific request (for example, a courier for a sample shipment).

Your rights and how to exercise them

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, withdraw marketing consent, or change your cookie preferences at any time. Email sales@olivesegypt.com for any of these. We haven't published a specific response-time guarantee (e.g. a number of days) because that depends on a legal question that hasn't been answered yet — we will act on your request as promptly as we reasonably can.

Managing cookie preferences

Use the "🍪 Cookie Preferences" control (bottom-left of any page) at any time to change your choice. Withdrawing Analytics consent stops any further analytics collection from that point forward.
